Almost concurrently with the new J'N'C, the fourth issue of our secret favourite magazine 'The Weekender - Magazin für Einblicke und Ausflüge' drops through the letterbox.
This time we take a tour of the rather secluded Scottish island of Barra, where nature is not the only intoxicating feature, over to a finca sightseeing trip in Mallorca as well as popping into London's bloodiest unbloodiest deli, the 'Hoxton Street Monster Supplies'.
We also drop in on an old stonemason's house in Sweden, before finishing off in the central French village of Murol where the Franco-American artist Suzanne Husky has made her mark with three eccentric huts in the local woods. We also visit Canadian vintage collector Erin Templeton in her workshop, take a peek into the studio house of the Zurich-based fashion designer Nina van Rooijen and poke around in the pots and pans of the American Sarah Britton, based in Copenhagen to see what she has cooking in her oven. And all without unappealing Homes and Gardens-style high-gloss pathos; instead there's a consistent layout, cool illustrations and loads of heart-warming photos. Issue No.4 costs 8 euros and is available as of now in selected bookstores or via the magazine's online store.
