Street-art legend Shepard Fairey is the latest collaboration partner of Californian bag maker Incase. Since his legendary “André the Giant Has a Posse” sticker campaign, the L.A.-based artist has been providing a continuous output of subversive, politically ambitious work, including the world-renowned Barack Obama HOPE poster series.
The dynamic graphic designer and illustrator is not only creative on a visual level, but also runs his own streetwear label (OBEY clothing), publishes a magazine (Swindle Magazine) and takes the turntables by storm either as DJ Diabetic or Emcee Insulin. The street artist, whose balancing act between politically critical statements and a commercial customer base has made him no stranger to controversy, was given his own solo exhibition three years ago at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.
The Incase for Shepard Fairey Capsule Collection includes a range of bags, iPhone covers and iPad sleeves featuring the typical Shepard Fairey patterns. According to Fairey, they “all overtly or sublimely reflect the concept of peace” and are available now on goincase.com, as well as from selected concept, lifestyle and fashion shops, plus Apple stores.
