This spring will be the fourth time that sports label Nike has teamed up with designer Jun Takahashi from Tokyo to develop high-performance running apparel.
The founder and head designer of the Undercover label drew inspiration from his own running practices in the creation of the collection – he is a dedicated member of the Gira running group from Tokyo, which unconventionally prefers to run counter-clockwise. The Gyakosou cooperation (“Gyak” means “wrong” or “reverse” and “Sou” means “running”) with Nike thereby reflects the personal preferences of the designer/runner: freedom of movement, comfort and storage solutions. Clever pocket solutions, for example, are perfect for transporting keys in silence. In addition to the extremely lightweight materials, open underarms provide maximum ventilation and gathered sleeves ensure natural arm movement. This functionality in combination with the stylistic pioneering work by Takahashi is certain to make the spring collection a success.
