Awol Erizku // NYC
The heritage French brand is launching a new collection of colourful hi and low-top canvas sneakers under the label Palladium Blanc this month. And to mark the occasion the legendary boot company sent three young photographers on an urban journey of discovery to the metropolises New York, London and Sao Paulo. The three-part film series ‘Streets in Focus’ not only show hidden spots beyond the beaten tourist paths, but also different photographic approaches.
The first film follows New York photographer Awol Erizku to the roots of his creativity in the South Bronx. Also a filmmaker and sculptor, he has worked with greats like David LaChapelle, loves old cameras and avoids digital image processing.
In the second film, London-based Irish photographer Josh Gordon is on the hunt for the latest trends in fashion, art and music. The success of his photo blog led to him setting up his own fashion label and, as the son of a renowned press photographer, taking photos is in his blood.
And last but not least, in the third film Manuela Costa Lima shows Sao Paulo from the perspective of an urban planner, in whose images the architecture is always unknowingly visible through framings and lines.
