From the life of a professional basketball player: Dirk Nowitzki, the reigning NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, has been honored by the U.S. sports giant Nike for his outstanding performance with a tailored Air Force 1 edition.
Israel Matteo, designer in the NikeiD studio in New York, has provided the famous Nike Air Force 1 with Dirk’s personal details such as the colors of his team, the date on which he became NBA champion, his famous basketball signature move, the so-called "Fade Away" and his shirt number. The "Dreambox" packaging was made from the wood of a basketball court and even includes an engraved message to Dirk and all the athletes in the world: „All dreams are crazy until they come true. Dirk did it“, which alludes to his dream to become NBA champion.
And that's not all: one of his biggest fans, the 19-year-old Alexander Fathaus from Frankfurt, was able to fulfill his long cherished wish: „I want to play Dirk in a One on One“. Alexander was chosen on the Facebook platform and was allowed to travel to Dallas so he could hand over the new shoes to Dirk personally.
The meeting between the two is recorded in this video:
