This collaboration between British footwear brand Pointer and Berlin based Civilist Store is based around the identity of the British Infantry Brigade based in Berlin after WWII.
After WWII, Berlin was divided into four parts, governed by the allies. British and US troops were called the Berlin Brigade. The French were busy drinking wine, the Russians drinking Vodka in the East of Berlin. During the Cold War the British came up with an idea for an urban camouflage. The repetition of different sized squares were effectively to disguise the shape of a tank. The colours chosen resembled the shades found on buildings, windows and doors.
This camo pattern was the starting point of the collaboration between Pointer and Civilist. Their capsule collection includes two interpretations of classical Pointer styles Benson and Cyril. For the first time the Cyril comes on a crepe sole. Both mid-cut shoes come in all black with a camouflage lining. The shoes are accompanied by a British Parka, as well as a T-Shirt, both showing the British camouflage pattern. The parka in Made in Manchester / UK out of Millerain Fabric and comes with a set of pins, of which one is a replica of the red circle symbolizing the Russian Army surrounding the island of Berlin. Allegedly, the British forces named this sign “The Asshole”.
