G-Star Raw moved to the other side of the river Rhine and opened its new German headquarters in Düsseldorf. Located in the old industrial area ‘Schwanenhöfe’ with its early 20th century brick stone factories, the new building will also house the new G-Star Footwear showroom. The new location fits perfectly to the edgy industrial style from G-Star.
While designing the new 1750 square meters headquarter, the G-Star design team tried to maintain the original industrial character of the building. For the interior of the building they combined new techniques and authentic details. Examples are contrasting modern elements including aluminum frames, a glass façade and the use of concrete mixed with original steel trusses and cast iron internal construction.
The showroom was decorated with furniture of Jean Prouvé by G-Star Raw for Vitra and own designs of the G-Star design unit. Here, the interior design of the Düsseldorf headquarters also serves as a blueprint for the other G-Star showrooms.
