The pushchair is essentially a commodity – and by this we mean that it’s purely functional. Until now. Just as they did with the legendary cashmere scarf, Lala Berlin is giving it a new rock ’n’ roll image as well as elevating it to the status of fashion accessory. Together with pram manufacturer Cybex, which only last year won the Red Dot Design Award for its ground-breaking 3-in-1 system, they have created a predominantly black model, embroidered with dummies and grinning skulls that can be transformed from a classic baby pram into a buggy or into a travel system in just a few easy moves.
A special addition is the world’s first paparazzi screen: gauze fixed to the sun hood and side struts guarantees optimal air circulation as well as protection from the flash bulbs of overly inquisitive photographers. The textile version in a limited edition of 100 will set you back 2500 euros, the price for the Brangelina-suitable nappa leather version is available on request.
