Alice in Wonderland meets Shaft in the A/W 2011-12 collection by Spanish shoe label Chie Mihara. The shoe designer with Japanese roots took her inspiration from the gangster-style gentlemen’s shoes from the early seventies and designed models made from shiny leather, with straight Cuban heel and pure linear details.
In contrast to this are the fairytale-like, playful creations made from matt leather and suede with contrasting stitching and glossy floral embellishments that are very elegant and feminine at the same time. What all shoes have in common is their high level of comfort: after all, Chie Mihara not only learnt her trade at Charles Jourdan and Sam & Libby, but also at Eneslow, an orthopaedic shoe shop in New York. We love Chie Mihara!
