The 1976 Punk Shirt
After sifting through its extensive archive, London street fashion label Fred Perry is re-releasing four of its classic polo shirts. The focus is on the 50s, 60s and 70s, a period during which the British subculture went through several upheavals. And so the '1963 Northern Soul Shirt', which comes in two colours and is adorned with badges, pays homage to the Mod movement, while the '1976 Punk Shirt' with faded splashes of colour is reminiscent of Sid Vicious and Co.
The '1979 Perry Boy Shirt' on the other hand is a reminder of the lesser-known underground fashion subculture of the Perry Boys and the '1957 Fred Perry Shirt' harks back to the twin tips polo with double stripe on the collar and sleeve cuffs. And it goes without saying that for every style, the colours, material and design, as well as all details – from the sleeve length down to the style of the buttons have been meticulously chosen in order to guarantee the best possible likeness to the originals. The limited edition polo shirts are available now from the label’s own online store.
