Whether in the Arctic or in Berlin-Mitte – in icy winds and bitterly cold temperatures you need a reliable companion to keep you warm. Exclusively for multi-label store 14 oz. in Berlin, American outerwear label Woolrich is re-releasing its legendary Arctic Parka in a special limited edition of just 600 coats worldwide for the forthcoming autumn/winter 2011 season. This functional and timeless jacket has been proving itself since the seventies, when it was designed for construction workers in Alaska.
And to this day with its thick down filling it still protects from extreme winds, persistent snow storms and freezing cold temperatures as low as minus 40°. The adjustable hood that can be folded forward with coyote fur trim is regularly seen at wintertime protecting the weather-worn faces of urban workers from wind, rain and snow.
For the first time Woolrich is producing the Arctic Parka from ‘Byrd Cloth', a historic material that was rediscovered by the label’s design team and was reproduced by Italian fabric manufacturers. The matt, robust and breathable cotton material was successfully used during the Antarctica expedition of its inventor Admiral E. Richard Byrd in the 1930s.
Extra features of the limited edition include the metal YKK zip and a second inside pocket with a press stud fastener and the Byrd Cloth label. The consecutive numbering on the joint Woolrich and 14 oz. label make every parka a one-of-a-kind collector’s item.
The five clear, vibrant colourways will add a dash of colour on those wintry days when it’s grey and gloomy outside. Thanks to its classic silhouette and width-adjustable waistband the parka is suitable for both ladies and men and is available in sizes XXS to XXL from the beginning of July for 799.90 euros at the 14 oz. store in Berlin.
