Japanese jeans label Edwin is turning 50 this year!
The family-run business Tsunemi Yonehachi Shoten was founded in 1947 in Nippori, Tokyo and started out selling surplus clothing from the US army, including jeans.
The favourite of the premium denim fan community is not only renowned for its designs and quality, but also for its inventiveness. Just two years after it was founded, in 1963, Edwin launched its first robust 16 oz. jeans on the market. To commemorate the past 50 years the label is using all sorts of references to its roots for its autumn/winter 2011/12 collection: inspired by workwear and military clothing from the USA from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Happy birthday from J’N’C!
