Two legends come together – the British soul singer Amy Winehouse designed a clothing line for street fashion label Fred Perry, which despite the singer’s tragic recent death, will be launched this autumn. The garments can be purchased in the Fred Perry online shop.
The exceptional singer’s signature style is clearly stamped across the figure-enhancing skirts, tops and dresses, the black and white houndstooth pattern, matching waist belts and patent leather clutches.
Royalties and fees for the collection will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which her father, Mitch Winehouse, wants to set up in her name. It will help children and young people – although it has not yet been confirmed how.
The decision to sell the collection was made by Amy’s father. In the official statement he is quoted as saying: “When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new Amy Winehouse x Fred Perry collection, it was natural to continue. Amy loved working on the Fred Perry collections.” And all pieces from the collection really do look as if they could have been worn by Amy herself on the stage.
