The US-American sneaker label KangaROOS is on the lookout for new talent. That's why students from the German College of Footwear Design in Pirmasens are getting the chance to design a shoe for the label's Red Line. Since mid-August the young designers have been busy designing their Low Cut and Mid Cut sneakers.
The only specification: KangaROOS heritage elements like the famous little zip pocket on the shoe have to be preserved, but otherwise they have complete artistic freedom.
The winning model will be named this Thursday at 12.30pm at the footwear and accessory trade fair GDS in Düsseldorf, together with label representatives and college tutor Martin Thorenz. The shoe will then go into production as a limited edition. In addition the winner will be able to gather practical know-how in the KangaROOS company headquarters in the Rhineland-Palatinate.
