With ‘Puma Re-Suede’, the latest drop of “The List” collection, the ‘Original Suede’ sneaker classic by sport-lifestyle label Puma has been given a sustainable update. After all, the sneaker legend already has an impressive 43 years under its belt, which meant it was high time for an ecologically-correct makeover!
The ‘Re-Suede’ is made completely from recycled and raw materials: instead of the suede upper, the innovative material Ultrasuede® was developed. It is light grey and made from recycled polyester fibres in Japan.
For the structured sole, Double R® Rice Rubber was used for the first time – a mix, which as well as rubber also contains rice husks, a by-product of the food industry. This has allowed the energy consumption and CO2 emissions to be reduced by 80% compared to normal manufacturing processes.
At 140 grams lighter than the original and delivered in Puma’s Clever Little Bag sustainable packaging system, the Re-Suede also saves fuel during transportation.
From tomorrow the sustainable kicks will be hitting the shelves of Solebox und Soto in Berlin, Pool/Pop in Munich, Azita in Frankfurt and Cream in Hamburg.
