In the autumn/winter season 2011 the British shoe label Clarks Originals meets the land of the rising sun. The Japanese premium fleece manufacturer Loopwheeler is giving the Clarks Original classics Desert Boot and Wallabee a minimalist two-tone makeover with suede and Loopwheeler fabric, which is the brand's hallmark.
This soft and voluminous sweatshirt material is produced on the eponymous loopwheel machines. The few remaining circular-knitting machines, some of which are still used in Japan, rotate at only 24 RPM and so only produce one metre of fabric every hour. Combined with the typical Clarks crepe soul, both models are available as a limited edition. The only downside: they are only available for men.
