Via Margit Brandt Blog: We mourn the loss of Margit Brandt. The Danish fashion icon died this morning of lung disease.
Margit Brandt, internationally successful Danish fashion icon, died on 24th October aged 66. Together with her husband Erik and their fashion label B-age they attained worldwide acclaim in the sixties, seventies and eighties. In the subsequent calmer years Margit Brandt took on other challenges. She designed, for example, the gala uniform of the Royal Danish Air Force. In 2005 the busy couple relaunched the brand Margit Brandt in cooperation with the fashion company Metropol ApS and with the support of their daughter Julie as creative director. In the following years the label's womenswear collection was awarded the prestigious Danish design prize Guldknap. In spring 2007 the Queen of Denmark bestowed the Order of Dannebrog on the designer for her lifelong commitment and services to Danish fashion.
