Slap-bang in the middle of Mitte, the 14 oz. Christmas market provides a much needed breather in the pre-Christmas shopping rush. The patio of the Berlin multistore glitters in pre-Christmas splendour: Christmas market stalls surround a five-metre fir tree, offering delicacies like roast chestnuts, fragrant cookies and traditional German Christmas cake (Stollen) from 'borchardt' the top-class caterer, as well as elderberry punch and homemade mulled wine.
Fans of heartier fare are also provided for with original roast sausages from Thuringia and game sausages from local Brandenburg, cooked on a charcoal grill.
Naturally, you can also buy items that are pleasing to the eye from the 14 oz. range: scarves and hats by Ben Alder, hand-painted and intricately decorated leather belts from Dukes Finest Vintage Artisan and handmade bags and scarves by Drakes, a real English institution. The Christmas market in the 14 oz. store is open from Monday to Saturday from 11am until 8pm, as well as on Sunday, 18th December, from 1 until 6pm.
