Nait Rosenfelder and Roey Vollmann, who live in Berlin, presented their Eva & Bernard collection for spring/summer 2012 on 7. July as part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The models moved across the catwalk on white blocks reminiscent of islands, showing twelve very summery styles for the urban holiday look, exuding pure airiness from the colour palette down to the choice of materials. J’N’C spoke to Nait Rosenfelder – the creative brains behind the label.
'In town, looking like you are on vacation' is the motto of this show.
Yes, exactly. Imagine for a moment that you just got back from the beach, took a cold shower, applied a new lipstick and slipped into something relaxed and elegant. This collection's colour palette exudes exactly that kind of freshness. Blue has been added to the collection for the first time; sand and mustard hues are just as important as a striking pink and orange.
What materials did you use?
Silk plays the main role – in various manifestations. Sometimes very flimsy as a single layer, sometimes in combination with silk chiffon, giving the material a padded look. But regardless, each item is incredibly light – like cotton wool. We've also used linen. We mixed a little nylon in to give the clothing a little more structure.
Is the bag that we saw on the catwalk also from you?
Yes! We started designing accessoires this season. We are excited about how they will be received. It's a great addition to our 'easy tailoring' look.
