Sensuous, mysterious and wistful are three words to describe the ballet based on popular fairytale ‘Snow White’. Guests were invited to a performance during Berlin Fashion Week on 7 July by the label InWear, which is aimed at women who, as well as fashion, also have a passion for art and culture.
Star choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, who is also commissioned by the Paris Opera and Milan’s Scala, was responsible for the flowing and expressive movements in time to various symphonies by composer Gustav Mahler. And the costumes for the ballet were designed by none other than the French ‘enfant terrible of fashion’ Jean-Paul Gaultier, who conjured up a modern, fairytale-like look for the dancers. The triad of choreography, music and costume formed a wonderfully harmonious narrative medium for this popular fairytale by the Brothers Grimm.
