Giraffes, horses on spikes, human figures, or a road sign that has mutated into a flower. The tape sculptures in public spaces by the US-American artist Mark Jenkins aim to irritate. This evening in Berlin's Gestalten Space the first German solo exhibition of the street artist, who lives in Washington, opens with 'Glazed Paradise'. Mark Jenkins will be present, giving us an insight into the sources and creative process behind his tape works.
In addition, he will be showing photographic work that demonstrates the interaction between selected artworks and their surroundings in public spaces. All rounded off with a new limited edition of smaller tape sculptures. Parallel to the exhibition the first monograph about the artist, The Urban Theater: Mark Jenkins, has been published by Gestalten. A limited number of signed copies are available in the Gestalten Space. Our culture tip of the day!
