Who doesn’t know it, the cool and sensual black and white photographs of the renowned fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh? In 1989, his name went down in the pages of fashion history when he took a photo of Tatjana Patitz, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford and thus made a significant contribution to the supermodel phenomenon in the Nineties.
For a number of years, the Duisburg-born has also been working with moving images. Tonight, a multimedia exhibition starts in the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, where three films of Peter Lindbergh are shown. The productions were created during the shooting of the brand of hair cosmetics Schwarzkopf in Le Touquet Paris Plage in Northern France. Three women are portrayed in different ways. The first film, ‘Iris’, shows extremely slowed changes. In the second film, ‘Elisa’, Lindbergh used lightning for the film just as for a photograph. And in the third film, ‘Mirror’, the celebrity photographer filmed the model Hanna looking at herself in a mirror. Peter Lindbergh said, “…I have always been interested in taking a photo in Continuation. I had the idea to film a person just as a photograph.” The exhibition will be on display until 12 April, 2012.
