On the occasion of ‘A life in fashion. Women's clothing 1750-1950' exhibition at the Fashion Museum of Antwerp the 'Dressed Undressed' short film by Dutch artist Bart Hess was produced.
The strip features six different silhouettes from the second half of the 19th Century, including two maternity clothes, a dress with bustle and a dress whose train can be buttoned on as well as a riding habit of 1900. Not only are the carrying methods illustrated, but also the process of dressing, with its sub-structures is revealed. It makes use of techniques such as time-lapse movie of modern alienation and 3D animations.
The featured exhibition provides a glimpse of everyday dress costume history of women in the period 1750-1950 and runs until 12 August 2012.
