In the Rua Augusta in Lisbon's historical centre Baixa you can not only shop till' you drop but also visit Mude, a Museum for Fashion and Design which opened 2009. Since March 29th visitors have the opportunity to attend the exhibition 'Tell me what you like... and I will tell you who you are', which offers a particular vision on Portuguese fashion in the last 20 years.
Ana Salazar, Luis Buchinho, Alexandra Moura, Anabela Baldaque and new fashion designers like Vitor, White Tent or Ricardo Andrez are some of the 22 designers who accepted the invitation and who came up with three examples of their creations – their first work, an outfit they consider a hallmark and a proposal for 2012.
Most of them showed their collections in both fashion weeks: ‘Moda Lisboa’ in Lisbon and ‘Portugal Fashion‘ in Paris and Porto. Like Luis Buchinho who drew inspiration for his A/W 2012/13 collection in the blue colour of the Portuguese sea and in the white of salt as well as in the Portuguese cobblestone sidewalks.
Or Alexandra Moura who played in her black outfits with the concepts of sweet/sour and narrow /large. Maria Gambina drew inspiration in the world of hockey and showed a collection with long jackets, colourful jumpers and hanging or printed lock motives.
The 'Tell me what you like... and I'll tell you who you are' exhibition will be on until the 10th June 2012. More information: www.mude.pt
