We heard for quite some time that we are surrounded by carcinogenic substances. But who would have thought that there are so many! In the U.S. alone more than 80,000 chemicals are registered!

Shaney Jo Daren and Mona Mukheerjea Gehrig could not stand for this knowledge and founded the charitable non-profit organization, Keep A Breast (KAB) in 2000, to provide information about the dangers of toxic chemicals in our environment and food supply. Breast prevention is very important to the employees. Both Shaney and Casey Cochran, director of the campaign "Keep A Breast Non Toxic Revolution", have experienced the disease that affected friends and family and want to work for greater awareness.

The well-known street artist Shepard Fairey supported KAB for 12 years and created a limited edition poster sets with six different designs for the NTR campaign in cooperation with his Studio Number One. These symbols are devoted to hazardous areas, through which harmful substances reach the human organism. In order to get the attention of as many people as possible, scientific studies are translated into easily understandable statements. And art is the best means to an end. "Through art you can really understand what's being said, just by one image", said Shaney. Unlike the previous KAB "I Love Boobies" campaign, Fairey stages his posters in his most usual color trio red, white and black. The campaign is neutral and addresses both boys and girls. Young people in particular should be addressed, but far too few deal with this issue. "Cancer has become such a global epidemic that it is happening to younger and younger women", said Shaney. Support of celebrities such as Dita Von Teese, Kate Perry and Colin Farrell provide the required interest.

On 5 July the vernissage of NTR took place in the Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. Apart from works by Shepard Fairey, recycled jackets by Shaney Jo Daren, as well as bracelets or even fair-trade coffee can be acquired until August in the pop-up shop. As we think that the campaign has done a great job, we strongly recommend you to take a look at the homepage: www.kabntr.org
