This Thursday from 6pm the first solo exhibition by illustration talent Sarah Illenberger will be on show at the Gestalten Space in Berlin. Instead of pencil and graphics pad the Berlin-based graphic designer works with simple materials and everyday objects like paper, wood, paper clips or even food, cutting them up and sticking them back together, or rearranging them.
With her three-dimensional illustrations the artist, who is originally from Munich, translates abstract content into visually vivid and often humorous images, which is why she is often asked by magazines to create pieces to illustrate their articles.
In the ‘Good Weather'- Solo Show, however, it’s not only her well-known commissioned work on display, like the ingredients for a chilli con carne recipe made from paper (as shown in the Canadian enRoute magazine) or the organs knitted using mohair wool to illustrate the “Effeminacy of Society” article in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung’s SZ Magazin.
You will also be able to see her freelance projects and designs, as well as the first “Sarah Illenberger” monograph, which is being published by the renowned Berlin Gestalten Verlag and will be officially released in September. Definitely a date for your diaries!
