Since the end of the nineties the artist group ‘Chicks on Speed’, who take music, art, fashion and technology to another level, have been causing a sensation with their interdisciplinary, experimental and often subversive projects. The artists try to explore the boundaries of traditional gender arrangements and blur the lines between art and fashion, music and design and sub-culture and mainstream.
From 10 September until 23 October, under the motto ‘Culture Workship Now!’ the Berlin Kreuzberg/Bethanien Art Space is showing the different artistic strategies of the group, which was established in 1997 by Melissa Logan and Alex Murray-Leslie. As well as the two founders, artists like Vladimir Karaleev, Anton Unai, Karl Lagerfeld, Douglas Gordon, Jeremy Scott and Yves Klein also contributed to the exhibition.
The accompanying programme with a showcase approach is taking place from 14 – 17 September in the former chapel (Studio 1) of the Bethanien Arts Quarter and includes performances, workshops and talks with international guests from the realms of fashion, art and music.
