Via Detail Daily: A colossal oversized yellow rabbit is causing plenty of pause for thought at the Openart Biennial in Örebro in Sweden at the moment – raising questions about the nature of public spaces and their function. The artist, Florentijn Hofmann who lives in Rotterdam, has created the gigantic 13-metre-high installation – which scrutinises and highlights the scale of urban perspectives.

Created out of shingles on a wooden framework, the installation looks like an enormous soft toy rabbit that appears to have landed in the town square in Örebro as though a child had just carelessly tossed it aside.

Definitely a very witty and inspiring installation – the only question remains: what would Swedish national hero Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson have made of the fact that he is stuck under the rabbit's behind – even if it is only for one summer? And do we really want to know?
