Some concerts are like wine in a Tetra Pak carton: the contents don’t quite match the container. So chamber-pop music, for example, just wouldn’t sound right in a musty multi-purpose hall or at a huge open-air event full of mud and raucous fans.
The ‘New Fall Festival’ which is starting next week in Düsseldorf is reacting to these changes to concert culture and providing the fitting setting for the acts, which are somewhere between pop and e-music: with the Tonhalle venue and the wood-panelled Robert Schumann Hall in the Ehrenhof, two concert halls have been chosen that not only have excellent acoustics, but are also amongst the most beautiful in Germany.
And the line-up is impressive! 13 high-carat artists and bands will be surprising the audience between 11 -16 October with unexpected performances. So, none other than Gentleman will be performing with an extraordinary acoustic set, James Yuill will be exploring the boundaries between electronic music and guitar pop, while the techno veterans from Plaid are presenting themselves from their unusual, quiet side.
Further highlights include ex-Blumfeld singer Jochen Distelmeyer, José Gonzales with his band Junip, Icelandic wunderkind Ólafur Arnalds, Agnes Obel and Jens Lekman…. the list goes on. Tickets are available at all booking offices, from the Tonhalle Düsseldorf or online at westticket.de. MISS IT AND MISS OUT!
