Yesterday evening the name of the game at Soho House was "Beware, I'm yarned and dangerous!" The group event organised by Styleproofed and cashmere queen Iris von Arnim welcomed around twenty willing wannabe knitters to the cosy suite on the sixth floor – and the event was fully booked out.
Knitting in the colder months of the year is the number one trend pastime. If you wander through the shops at the moment you’ll be overcome by the huge selection of woolly loop scarves, luxury cashmere shawls, chunky knits, cuddly mohair jackets, XXL hats and jacquard cardigans – and the thought may cross your mind "I can do that!"
But there are a whole lot of stitches dropped between wanting to do something and being able to do it, as could be seen by some of the novices yesterday. Thanks to the patient and professional tutoring by Ragne Kikas aka Queen of Knits, however, by the end of the evening most amateur knitters had successfully managed the beginnings of either a hat or scarf.
Cast on ladies, knit one, purl one!
