On the 20th and 21th October the "Kreativmesse Connections" is taking place in the legendary Café Moskau. Presented by le book, the trade fair brings together around 50 international artist agencies (photographers, hair/makeup teams etc.) as well as providers from the fields of design and production. The fair is complemented by presentations from target-group compatible magazines.

In addition there will be daily "conversations" on the most diverse topics centring on creativity. This kicked off today with the title "The relationship between fine arts and branding" with Patrick Marinoff, Global Brand Director Maybach, Rudolph Schurmann, CD from the Neutral Zurich Agency as well as the wonderful photographer Andreas Mühe, taking the place of Christian Boros who didn't turn up.

The conversation was chaired by Christoph Amend, editor-in-chief of Zeitmagazin. Moody insider anecdotes on excessive shoots by David Lachapelle for Maybach in 2009 were just as amusing as they were revealing; the fantastic animation by David Shrigely for Pringle of Scotland from 2010 is simply fantastic, as were the label's current campaign motifs; just a short while back, the label had the rep of being a hooligan label. They now have Tilda Swinton as testimonial.

I was very inspired by the fact that it wasn't all about the usual Berlin suspects with their traditionally rather more meagre budgets, but to hear about the spoilt ultra-luxury brands whose only worry is whether the board of directors will give the OK for the motifs shot by Mr. Lachapelle or perhaps find it too racy (60 naked people!). By the way, Maybach are currently working with Julian Schnabel, whose shot of himself standing on a Maybach in pyjamas is my personal favourite of the day (sorry, Andreas Mühe, your photos are, of course, all first class).

This evening there's a party with Vogue in the Bar Tausend. Tomorrow there will be a new panel on the topic "Re-Defining Fashion & Retail in a changing media landscape" with, amongst others, Dr. Adrian Kiehn (P&C), Nikolaus Jagdfeld (Quartier 206), chaired by Jessica Weiß (Interview Magazin).
