Mala & Mad, a new label that was founded in 2011, is bringing its new winter collection to the stores in July. By then the weather will have changed, but the intentions remains the same: help for street kids in India.
When Madeleine from Germany met Mala from Lebanon at a charity event in Nepal, it soon became clear that the two of them would start a relief project. A short while later their project kicked off under the motto "Street Art for Street Kids". The new second collection is a series of scarves and shawls.
Together with young artists and a creative network of friends, they want to convey a message of cooperation – naturally with the aim of changing something. In order to do that, the label printed graffiti motifs onto high quality materials like cashmere, to create luxury scarves and shawls. Part of the profits are donated.
In order to avoid misuse of any money, Mala and Madeleine personally hand the money over to institutions like the "Salaam Baalak Trust", which provides accommodation for the street kids in India. Not only are the children provided with food, medicine and security here, but they also get an education.
