The Japanese carp fish – also called Koi, is not only a century old sign representing luck, love and perseverance, but also namesake of the denim brand K.O.I, founded in 2010 in Amsterdam. Tony Tonnaer, founder of 'Kings of Indigo', puts a high priority on sustainable production techniques and environmental washings.
Instead of following short-term trends, K.O.I relies on classics that go down well season after season. After the triple R-concept "Recycle, Repair, Re-use" leftover materials and vintage clothing are used for weaving of new high-denim fabrics. Also, hang tags, patches, logo applications and all elements of brand communication are included in the concept. A part of the ablution, called Kings of Laundry is caused by laser technologies and ozone processing. Thus, a lot of water can be saved in the washing process!
In addition to two new models in the Jean womens wear, the summer collection 13 also presents accessories such as key ring, wallet, iPad sleeve etc. Customers, who want to lend a hand with the recycling of their favorite jeans, can order the KOI repair kit online. And if all else fails, old jeans can be left with the Kings for reuse. Very royal!
