Tree houses in the form of oversized bird nests, mirrored cabinets and show cases. A screening in the thicket. What initially sounds like an adventure playground for adults, emerged as a location for the spring / summer 2013 presentation by Garcia. The unusual show took place in a forest near Amsterdam at the end of June.
Besides the tree-huts built area, the Dutch street wear and denim label also constructed an open-air catwalk, on which the collections for kids and teens were shown, in addition to women's and men's fashion. Here, the Dutch convinced not only by imagination, but also in terms of sustainability, because they acted on the maxim of the Arte Povera movement: To work with everyday existing materials and to leave nothing behind.
For the coming summer, the design team of Garcia again found inspiration in Mediterranean regions. More specifically, in Italy, in Milan, and there in the design quarter Brera, which became the hipsters favorite with its creative and unconventional shops and bars. And so the styles are urban and casual and are provided with a touch of Dolce Vita. With regard to the women, denim does not only set the tone in jeans, but also in other collection pieces as T-shirts, overalls and knit cardigans. Bright colors are combined with washed-out prints and flashy leather. For men it's all about the theme 'Blue so Blue' and the color blue, not only for pants and shirts, but also in cotton shirts and shorts.
Besides the fashion show, a performance by the Dutch singer Natalia Jayden was a highlight of the event that was brought to a close at Dj tunes and finger food, on a clearing decorated with carnival booths.
