Artwork by AleXsandro Palombo
The caricatures by Italian illustrator AleXsandro Palombo are providing us with our daily dose of humour. In his blog, 'Humor Chic - The Daily Society Portrait' he comments on events from the world of fashion and glamour with a sharp tongue and even sharper quill. And this is a sector that AleXsandro knows inside out - after all, he not only worked as creative director for the most important luxury fashion houses in Milan, Paris and Hong Kong for many years, but in 1998 he also launched his own fashion line. It's not only fashion designers and editors who find themselves the butt of his black-humoured caricatures, however, but also political personalities like Silvio Berlusconi and Barack Obama.

Three Pilots: Xaver, Andreas and Sepp
After the previously presented psychedelic-influenced Violetta the fashion designer Bernhard Willhelm has provided us with yet another interpretation of the American Dream. In collaboration with Berlin-based glasses manufacturer Mykita he has produced a pair of 80s-inspired sunglasses with a pinch of irony, named 'Xaver', to be added to the pilot eyewear series 'Franz', 'Sepp' and 'Andreas' that's been around for three years now. The new model is more angular than its predecessors and, with 14mm temples, it's the Wambo* of the collection.
* Wambo is Bavarian for 'heavyweight’

In Cannes IKEA has just been awarded the Golden Lion for Advertising for the umpteenth time. This time for Advertiser of the Year 2011. And they certainly deserve it. After all, the Swedes always manage to surprise us with humorous and subtle campaigns – like, for example, the current TV spot with the rebellious teen who flips out in an unbreakable IKEA kitchen, or with the commercial that comes around every Christmas and ensures that Germans don’t just connect the name ‘Knut’ with the polar bear.

The regular headphones from the Stockholm earphone workshop have just gained a younger brother: the in-ear C19M headphones come equipped with a microphone and a remote control and are compatible with pretty much every mobile phone with a 3,5mm plug. Gone are the days when in-ears cut you off from the rest of the world.

Starting out ten years ago in a kid’s playroom, the Berlin label Ucon has turned into an art-meets-advanced-streetwear-project to be reckoned with. After projects together with Chris Gray, Falko Ohlmer and Mario Hugo a collabo with the Paris-based graphic artist Theo Gennitsakis is now on the cards.
