Amy Winehouse not only had a unique soul voice, but was also a talented designer. For British streetwear label Fred Perry the singer designed two collections in her unmistakeable 50s-inspired style. To mark the release of her new album 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' a selection of her spring/summer 2012 collection can now be exclusively viewed and ordered online at Fred Perry.
Even the most die-hard purists sometimes crave coloured patterns in their lives. We recommend the ‘Black Holes’ series, designed by New York artist Ryan McGinness for American bag maker Incase. With his psychedelic-style drawings he is exploring outer space, the inner space of the mind and ‘ueber fanciness‘, as he puts it.
Last week I was disloyal to Berlin for once, but I had a good excuse: an invitation to London from Dita! So on the evening of 29 November 2011 I found myself in the middle of an audience invited to partake in exquisite cocktails and the spectacular 'Be Cointreauversial Show' by Burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese. To sum it up: I have rarely seen someone splash around as provocatively as the lady herself …
Slap-bang in the middle of Mitte, the 14 oz. Christmas market provides a much needed breather in the pre-Christmas shopping rush. The patio of the Berlin multistore glitters in pre-Christmas splendour: Christmas market stalls surround a five-metre fir tree, offering delicacies like roast chestnuts, fragrant cookies and traditional German Christmas cake (Stollen) from 'borchardt' the top-class caterer, as well as elderberry punch and homemade mulled wine.
Shocked by the earthquake in Japan this March, the menswear label Boglioli has decided to help. So the specialists in Italian tailoring put their heads together with the Japanese designers from Kolor to come up with something they could do. Kolor is particularly well known for its conceptual design.<

Tomorrow evening it'll be worth watching ‘Wetten, dass…’* again. Less to witness Tommy's** last appearance but more to check out O'Neill snowboarder, Olympia winner and two-time world champion Gian Simmen's amazing run. In an outside bet he'll be taking on an unusual challenger in Austria's Ischgl Snowpark.
The hand-knitwear label Maiami is guesting at Berlin's Oona Gallery with its temporary shop for the fourth time now. After various knitted-room installations presented under the title 'knitted shop', this winter the focus is on selected products. 'The Ice Storm/Handmade Edition' is a small collection of carefully selected key pieces, which Maiami has developed especially for the Oona Gallery.

Calling all cosmopolitans: the illustrator and graphic designer Vahram Muratyan, who has his own agency in Paris, has a charming way of conjuring a smile onto your face. His iconographies juxtaposing the looks and everyday phenomena of the tradition-conscious Paris and the future-fixated New York are now not only available as posters, but also in a book.
When the maverick of the Antwerp fashion scene bags a retrospective in his hometown's ModeMuseum, then things can't help but get interesting. Especially when it's exceptional talent Walter Van Beirendonck we're talking about, who studied at the famous Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and, since his breakthrough at the "British Designer Show" in 1987 in London was named one of the "Antwerp Six", together with his fellow students Dirk Van Saene, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester and Marina Yee. It's definitely a must-see.
